the woman who started it all, she taught me everything that i know about being a mom. some things i learned because she modeled them, some things i learned because i was reacting to her choices. she was a feminist who believed that she should work really really hard outside of the home. she also really thought my parenting style was wonderful, even all the ways that it differed from hers.

Thank you Allah, for my beautiful mother

for the love she always gave to me

and her friendship that was never-failing, for her kind eyes that saw the best in me

and her gentle wisdom that still carries me through,

for her prayers that lifted me up

and the dreams she held in her heart for me,

for the happy memories we made together

and all the hugs and smiles we shared

i am forever grateful..  she is my only Mama..
